Access
Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park is a few hours from Kigali. Uganda's Bwindi is further from Entebbe, though it can also be reached via Kigali.
Terrain
Bwindi is dense montane rainforest and can be demanding. Rwanda's slopes are steep but more open in places.
Permits and trip length
Permit costs are set by each government and can change. Rwanda suits short trips; Uganda suits longer itineraries combining chimpanzees and savannah parks.
